A central heating insurance plan can help a great amount by allaying your repair costs

It’s easy to heat up your home during summers however you can meet a lot of problems if your central heating boiler stops working as winter approaches unless you are used to talking cold showers. No one remembers about the central heating boiler in their house until that day when it breaks down. And then you realise how important, not to mention expensive, it really is.

Generally a tenant paying rent is not liable to repair a malfunctioning central heating system as the landlord is responsible for maintenance and repair of his premises. But if you’re a homeowner, you may want to think about putting a little aside to cover the costs should anything go wrong.

It is advisable to buy a new model rather than getting your ten year old central heating system repaired, this will cut down the fuel costs too in future years. Depending on the amount of space in your home, the size of your family and the existing heating boiler, you would have a choice as to the type of central heating boiler to go for. If you have a compact family and need hot water at short notice, a combi gas boiler is a better choice. A combi heating boiler warms up the water as it flows through, removing the need to store the water in a hot water tank. Hot water will be available instantaneously on demand, but if a hot tap is opened by someone else while you are enjoying your shower, you better jump out fast unless you like cold showers!.

A sealed central heating boiler system can cater to several family members having a hot wash or bath at the same time since it utilises a storage tank housed in a cupboard or loft, thus ensuring a steady supply of pressured hot water. It is quite easy to install the system gas boiler and it can also easily fit into your home. Compared to a combi boiler, a storage boiler heats water slowly; after depletion, a fresh tankful can take some time to be replenished.

Many older houses have an open vent central heating system installed, and it is the bulkiest of all; two tanks in the attic and a storage cylinder in the ventilated closet. An open vent gas boiler provides plenty of hot water that can be used simultaneously, just like a sealed boiler, but again here too heating takes time and the pressure is not as good as with a combi boiler.

Finally, a back central heating boiler can allow multiple outlets of hot water at the same time, without loss of pressure; but they can take up a lot of space. The space inside a chimney breast is often used to accommodate a back heating boiler; but installing a new back gas boiler system to replace another type of heating boiler is not cost effective. However repairing an existing back central heating boiler or replacing it with a new back gas boiler can result in better efficiency and reduced long term costs.

Any malfunctioning gas boiler system requires expensive overhauling and repair. You can get some peace of mind if you take central heating insurance because if any thing goes wrong with your heating system your costs will be covered by the insurance supplier or utility company. Buy a good gas boiler breakdown policy which not only covers the labour, repair costs and also provides annual inspections with no call out charge.
