Homes have divergent types of central heating system
There are a number of kinds of Central Heating Systems on the market these days. Almost all these systems have a heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to central heating radiators.
Across the majority of Northern Europe the climate is not warm enough to warrant air conditioning. In fact, a decent central heating system is a necessity in these regions, and due to this, a majority of new houses have a Central Heating system.
With winter coming up round the corner heating should be at the front of your mind. A well heated house can help create a comfortable space for you to enjoy with your family. This security in winter is possible only if your Central Heating System is infallible, well maintained and operating efficiently. Additionally, your central heating system should also be safe, user-friendly and durable.
Vented (or pumped) and Sealed heating systems are the two most common types available.
Pumped or vented Gas Central Heating systems are most popularly used. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. Your house gets hot water through the stored hot water tank, it also supplies heat to the central heating radiators. The expansion tank has adequate space to accommodate any water expansion that occurs due to heat. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the attic area, taking up space. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.
A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems.
A slightly newer, more up-to-date central heating boiler that many people are choosing over a pumped/vented Gas Central Heating system is a sealed system. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. In the absence of water tanks and pipework, the whole system is sealed and vented; here are some prominent benefits of such a system.
- There is no chance of pipes freezing in the attic.
- As opposed to pumped/vented systems there is no need for maintenance work on tanks or pipes.
- Because the system is not vented, there is less chance of water leaking out.
- As there are no open vents, air cannot enter into the system and so the risk of corroding, air locks and sludge is drastically cut.
- Can be easily rinsed out under pressure via the main water supply.
Such a Sealed Central Heating System is installed with all the required gauges, controls and safeguards. No tank feeds a sealed system, the supply comes directly from the mains. The mains water goes direct to the sealed system.
Normal variations of pressure can be allowed in a sealed system through a pressure vessel that contains compressed gas; this is separated from the sealed system water by a diaphragm. If the pressure is very high in the system, then the water will escape from the safety valve, and if the pressure is too low, then the safety valve will open to let the water in.
Central Heating Systems are worth the money as they are cheaper to run than any other form of heating. Moreover, they offer all kinds of control, which are normally not found in other heating systems giving you a more pleasant environment.
