Houses have variant types of central heating system
There are many different types of gas Central Heating Systems available to you. Almost all these systems have a central heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to central heating radiators.
Air conditioning is not a priority for residents of Europe and northern countries as these regions experience cold weather most of the year with short duration summers. That is why in the UK most houses constructed these days are constructed with Central Heating Systems fully integrated into the home.
With the onset of winter, heating becomes crucial to warming your home. You can make your home more comfortable, pleasing and relaxing by heating it with Gas Central Heating. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. You should feel that your Gas Central Heating System is safe, easy to use and long lasting.
Gas Central Heating system can be divided into two broad classes, pumped/vented systems and sealed systems.
You will find pumped/vented systems in most homes at the moment. The pumped/vented Central Heating Systems have an expansion tank and a feed. The tank supplies your house with hot water and provides the heating radiators with heat. Water expands when heated; this expansion is accommodated in a feed-expansion tank. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the loft area, taking up space. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.
Older homes generally have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.
A slightly newer gas boiler is sealed heating system and this is the preferred heating system in newer properties. As the name suggests, sealed system is a closed system; no tank is required in this system. The attic has no tanks or piping, the system is completely enclosed and locked, it’s not ventilated, and that has its advantages:.
- As there are no pipes, they cannot freeze up in the attic.
- As opposed to pumped/vented systems there is no need for maintenance work on tanks or pipes.
- The chance of a leaking water tank is all together absent.
- The air cannot enter the system as its sealed and hence there are lesser risks of sludge, corrosion and airlocks developing.
- It is possible to flush out the system if required by using the mains water supply.
A sealed Central Heating System is a packaged unit with all the necessary controls and safety devices. The mains water supplies the water required for the sealed Central Heating system. The pressure of the main water supply benefits the hot water outlets and gives a healthy shower.
A pressure vessel containing tightly packed gas can allow a sealed system to have normal fluctuations of pressure; a diaphragm serves as a barrier between the gas and water in the sealed system. Pressure buildup in a Sealed system can be relieved by a safety valve which drains out water; and pressure drop is compensated by automatic fresh intake of water via another valve.
Overall Gas Central Heating Systems offer more value for money as compared to alternative heating systems as they can be very efficient. They also offer you all round control which is more than most heating systems do.
